About The Art
Debbie starts with an idea or photo,
enlarges the drawing with an overhead projector and then fine tunes the
detail to best work with the metal medium. A pattern is cut out with an
exacto knife and then transferred onto sheet metal. There, Dolton takes
this penciled drawing and cuts it out with a hand held plasma arc, then
chips and grinds the artwork smooth. After an acid bath, the artwork is
polished and skillfully heated with a torch to bring out the beautiful
colors inherent in the metal; like painting with a torch. The artwork is
then coated with a polymer that leaves the metal surface waterproof,
smooth and shiny. All of our artwork is handmade, one of a
kind. Even though we have patterns, every piece we create comes
out different than then next one.
